Why light matters

For most of human history, the sun determined when our days began and ended.

Bright daylight signaled activity and alertness. Sunset signaled that the day was winding down.

Today, artificial lighting allows us to extend our days long after the sun has disappeared.

That's a remarkable achievement—but it also means that many of us experience a very different light environment than previous generations.

What is blue light?

Blue light is a natural part of daylight.

In fact, blue-rich daylight helps us feel alert, focused, and awake during the day. On a sunny day, the light you receive outdoors can be more than 100 times stronger than the lighting found in most homes and offices.

The problem is not blue light itself.

The challenge is that most modern light sources continue providing blue-rich light long after sunset.

What is Zero Blue Light?

Zero Blue Light is based on a simple idea:

What is red light?

What is infrared light?

Infrared light exists just beyond what the human eye can see.
